Die verschwundene Katze.

Paul lebt in einer kleinen Wohnung in Berlin.
Er hat eine Katze. Sie heißt Momo und ist sehr neugierig.

Eines Tages kommt Paul nach Hause.
Er ruft: „Momo! Wo bist du?“
Aber die Katze kommt nicht.

Paul sucht in der Küche – nichts.
Er schaut unter dem Sofa – nichts.
Er schaut auf dem Schrank – nichts.

„Wo ist sie nur?“, fragt Paul.
Er sucht im Badezimmer, im Flur und in der Badewanne – aber Momo ist verschwunden.

Nach einer Stunde hört Paul ein leises „Miau…“
Es kommt aus dem Schlafzimmer.

Paul öffnet den Kleiderschrank – und da sitzt Momo!
Sie liegt zwischen den Pullovern und schläft.

Paul lacht. „Du freche Katze!“, sagt er.
Momo streckt sich, miaut – und springt aus dem Schrank.

The Missing Cat.

Paul lives in a small apartment in Berlin.
He has a cat. Her name is Momo, and she is very curious.

One day, Paul comes home.
He calls out, “Momo! Where are you?”

But the cat does not come.
Paul looks in the kitchen – nothing.

He looks under the sofa – nothing.
He looks on the cupboard – nothing.

“Where could she be?” asks Paul.
He looks in the bathroom, in the hallway, and in the bathtub – but Momo is gone.

After an hour, Paul hears a soft “Meow…” It comes from the bedroom.

Paul opens the wardrobe – and there sits Momo!
She is lying between the sweaters and sleeping.

Paul laughs. “You naughty cat!” he says.
Momo stretches, meows, and jumps out of the wardrobe.

🧠Grammar: Local Prepositions in German

In this story, we learn important local prepositions that show where something is located or where something is going. These prepositions change depending on whether you are asking about the location (Where?) or the direction (Where to?).

🧭 Examples for “Wo?” (Dative) – Position:

Question	Answer
Wo ist die Katze?	Im Schrank.
Wo liegt Momo?	Zwischen den Pullovern.
Wo sucht Paul?	Unter dem Sofa, auf dem Schrank.

➡ With “Wo?” you use the dative case.

🚶 Examples for “Wohin?” (Accusative) – Movement

Wohin schaut Paul?	Unter das Sofa, auf den Schrank.
Wohin springt die Katze?	Aus dem Schrank heraus.

➡ For “Wohin?” you use the accusative case.

Many local prepositions change depending on whether you ask about the location (Where?) or the movement (Where to?).
